Insomniart - Seeing Beauty Through Pain by Alex Moyse

About this image

Whangarei Fritter Festival

Sorry, this event has been and gone.

Alex Moyse's work in black ink is filled with unimaginable detail and has to be seen to be believed.

Art has always been a part of her life but since chronic pain also became a constant part of that life forcing her to give up the career she loved as an emergency nurse, she has developed it further, into a form of meditation and pain control. Much of her work is done in the wee hours of sleepless nights hence the title "InsomniArt".

Alex is married to Scott, and is mother to 3 children, aged 15, 5 and 2 years. She was born in Whangarei, living at Whangarei Heads. It is obvious that many of her beautiful pieces are influenced by the environment she identifies with as home.

The exhibition opens on Thursday 18th January 2018, 5:30 to 7pm, Yvonne Rust Gallery, Quarry Arts Centre, Selwyn Ave, Whangarei.

All are very welcome. The final day of exhibition is Tuesday 30th January 2018.
