Alex Moyse Insomniart Exhibition

About this image

Whangarei Fritter Festival

Alex Moyse turned to drawing after suffering illness which gives her chronic pain.

Her drawings originated as a distraction from this chronic pain that would keep her awake at night. Her drawings are beautiful and intricate, in an illustrative style depicting native New Zealand imagery with a Pacifica feel.

For Alex drawing is a therapy, the beauty, lightness and delicacy of her work is inconsistent to the heavy pain and burden of her illness.

Insomniart embraces beauty through pain, is about fighting illness and regaining ownership of one’s life.
