Discover the Whangarei Heads through the eyes of the diverse artistic talent living in this Paradise. From the 5th to the 24th of March The Reyburn House Exhibition in Whangarei will showcase some of the vast talent living in this uncompromised part of the country.
The exhibition is a forerunner for the Discover Whangarei Heads Arts Trail which runs over the Easter 2013 weekend.
The trail will start just beyond Onerahi and extends throughout the Whangarei Heads Peninsular including Parua Bay, Owhiwa, McLeods Bay, Taurikura and Urquharts Bay. Maps will be available soon on our website and also at local cafes, Parua Bay Tavern and art outlets. Admission to all the listed studios is free.
While you are out and about, why not visit stunning Ocean Beach or stretch your legs with a 10 minute walk to secluded Smuggler’s Cove. White sands and blue seas set against the dramatic backdrop of Mt Manaia and Bream Head. No wonder local artists are so inspired!
Great food at the tavern and local cafes will keep you fuelled and refreshed as you explore.

Reyburn House Art Gallery, 32 Reyburn House Lane, Town Basin, Whangarei
Built between 1865 and 1875, Whangarei’s historic Reyburn House is the oldest existing early settler home situated along the Hatea River.
Recently renovated, the House now functions as an art gallery administered by the Northland Society of Arts. There is a monthly programme showing work by both national and local artists.
