Matapōuri is a well-known and popular beach for locals and visitors alike. The beach and sandy estuary offers relatively sheltered swimming for the whole family. Grab and ice cream at the local store, find a spot to lay your towel on the golden sand, and relax.
Or take the walk over the hill (it's steep in places) to the equally popular and more secluded Whale Bay.
